I’ve written about it, I’ve followed other healers and listened to what their take on it is, I’ve talked to numerous friends, relatives, coworkers… We all have the same opinion: That it’s simply NOT working, and when I say it’s not working I mean that it’s not working for the people who are hiring the people in this system to make us better. I think my dad might even admit that it doesn’t work like it should and he’s been a part of the same system for decades.
A HUGE element to my healing process was working with my life and spiritual coach Kat Kim, who helped me connect my BODY, MIND and SOUL to that moment when my body was going into the usual ASTHMA symptoms. That spark of, “What if I don’t HAVE to get sick again? What if I can just be present with my body and ASK it, ‘what are you feeling?’ or ‘who is inside me that needs to be heard?’ or ‘how old is that part of me who needs attention?'” These are most beautiful questions that I ask myself EVERY time that I start to feel the asthma try to enter my space. It’s a old familiar process and I love and honor that part of myself who needs to be held emotionally each time.
MOMMAS! There are so many beautiful core parts of ourselves that need you RIGHT NOW. She doesn’t have to be alone any more. YOU have yourself every single moment of every day. Sometimes it take some practice with someone who has done it AND sees that part of you who is calling out. Healing work is not just positivity statements or simply changing your diet or even getting therapy/counseling. It takes ALL of it to work in cahoots together and you will feel it.
But what it really gets down to is: Are you picking practitioners who are taking care of your greatest and highest needs in the setting of healing work? I’m including ALL therapists too, by the way: Massage therapists, Reiki masters, Sound Healers, Breathworkers, anyone who will work with your energetic health. I think there are plenty of practitioners who do the right thing and who are taking care of their clients with their highest intentions in mind.

So what I want you to do with all this information is practice. Evaluate what feels best for your body, create connections in your own meditation so that you can find better understandings of what your body is about. Gaining knowledge about your own body and mind is priceless and no one else can do it for you. They can point you in a direction of ideas on how to honor yourself more.
Some of the best meditative, self-reflective and breathtaking moments I have spent on this Earth was when I studied abroad in Italy back in 1989 and 1989 for a total of a year.
In the summer of 1988 I studied Italian (intensive) at the School for Foreigners in Perugia. The school paired the students with others around the world. My roommate was from Germany. She was tall and blonde and I remember respecting her a lot. I don’t remember a whole lot of details as to why except that she was intelligent, was kind, her English impeccable and we shared a commiseration about our “house mother.”

After many years of broken hearts, damage and broken dreams, then therapy, and then the bolstering of self-confidence because we simply knew we had to overcome and triumph, we now can hold ourselves up with strength and great confidence that we “got this.” We not only made it through to the other side but now hold ourselves confidently with a staff of Knowing.
